21 Jump street

The opening to 21 jump street is a discrete/narrative opening with titles running through. It has images both from the film and not from the film and has text inter cut.

This screen grab of some of the opening credits of the film show show the cast and directors. The text blends in with the backgrounds, some colourful and some not so colourful. This may suggest a comedic side to the film. The use of colour is to make it eye cathing and appealing to the audience.

It then switches to a more darker colour, which may suggest a more serious tone to the film. The text stands out more due to it being edited with the special effects, such as a glow around it, to make it eye catching. The non diegetic sounds throughout the opening are also there to keep the reader hooked.

The Avengers

The opening of the avengers is a narrative opening. The titles are super imposed in the sequence.

This screen grab shows the opening credits. It has diegetic sounds through it, like lights switching on. The colours are much more darker here than in 21 jump street. This may be because this film is a little more serious and has a darker tone to it. The screeen grabs show zoomed in pictures of weapons and items and shows the titles standing out more.
