Comparison between the original opening & our remake (Reservoir Dogs)

Of course there will be differences between our remake and the original opening, the most obvious one is the quality. But that's not what I'm focusing on, I'm comparing the camera shots. Why? Well, because it will help me realise the mistakes we may have made now, so that we won't repeat the same mistake when it comes to filming the actual Thriller film opening.

(1)FRAMING:

The original opening followed the rule of thirds, therefore had a good framing.
Our remake had bad framing due to the fact that we disrupted the rule of thirds, showing too much spacing on the top. This made our shot look unprofessional.

SHOTS:

The original opening uses tight close-up shots.
Our remake uses mid shots (which we did accidentally) that has too much space at the top of the character's heads.

MISE EN SCENE:

The original opening shows the characters dressed in smart suit jackets/shirts, shades and ties.
Our remake shows the charcaters dark jackets, colourful scarf (which I think we shouldn't have used as it doesn't suit the genre) and shades.

Overall, this was a great practice towards the actual thriller film opening we will be creating. The font, sound and slow motion editing used was similar to original opening. However, we made a few minor issues. I think that me, Larah and Amina did a good job in the editing part, considering this was our first try. From this experience we learnt that we shouldn't rely on others in case they are absent on the day, and we should always have a back up plan.
