The Rule of Thirds is a concept in video and film production in
which the frame is divided into into nine imaginary sections. This creates reference points which act as
guides for framing the image. The Rule of Thirds is a powerful compositional technique for making photos more interesting, dynamic and look framed well.
In most "people shots", the main line of interest is the line going through the eyes. In this shot, the eyes are placed approximately 1/3 of the way down the frame. Depending on the type of shot, it's not always possible to place the eyes like this.
The rule of thirds states than an image is most pleasing when its
subjects or regions are composed along imaginary lines which divide the
image into thirds, both vertically and horizontally. It often creates a sense of balance without making the image appear
too static, and a sense of complexity without making the image look
too busy.
If you didn't understand all that text above that explained the Rule of Thirds, maybe a song will make things clearer ? :)
